Odoo Instance (Server) Management

In this guide you can read about basic operations that you can perform with an Active Odoo instance (server). In particularly, you can read about:

You can find most of the Odoo instance (server) controls under the Server tab of the instance.

Here, you can see the status of virtual server, snapshots made and a number of control buttons.

The Refresh button updates the actual server information. Basically, you can use it after every major operation with the server (e.g. start / stop server, take snapshots, etc.).

Stop / Restart Instance

You can start, stop and restart your Odoo instance (server) using the server control buttons.

Stopping instance is required for some operations, for example, to delete the instance. You can also stop the instance that is not in use to free some system resources.

To stop the instance, click the Stop button.

In the opened dialog window, click Ok to confirm the operation.

You can see the status of the instance (server) on the right side of the form.

To start the instance (server), click the Start button.

You can also restart the running server by clicking the Reset button.

Take Server Snapshot

To take a server snapshot, click the Snapshot button.

In the opened window, you will be able to enter the snapshot description. Click Create to create a snapshot.

The snapshot will be ready in seconds.

Roll Back to Last Snapshot

You can roll back to the last server snapshot.

To roll back, click the Rollback button.

You can roll back your server only to the last snapshot. If you have multiple snapshots and you want to roll back to a specific snapshot, you need to delete all the snapshots that were made before the desired one.

To delete a snapshot, click the Remove button on the right.

On the opened window, click Remove.

A dialog window opens, click Remove to confirm your action.

Click Refresh to update the server information.

Resize Instance Disk

You can resize the disk space of the instance.

Note!

You can only increase the disk space.

The instance's disk space is limited to 100 Gb.

Click the Resize button to increase the disk space.

In the opened window, in the Size field, enter the desired size of disk increment (in Gb). Your disk space will be increased by the specified size.

Click Resize to resize the disk.

Change the Number of Workers

You can increase / decrease the number of workers for the instance. More workers allow to perform more simultaneous operations. Adding a worker will also add 1 core and 1 Gb of memory for the instance.

To add a worker, click the Up arrow button.

In the dialog window, click Ok to confirm the operation.

You can see the number of workers of the instance on under the Parameters tab.

To remove one worker, click the Down arrow button.

Confirm the operation in the dialog window.

Protect Instance From Deletion

You can lock your instance to prevent accidental removing. You will be able to delete the instance only after unlocking it.

You can see the status of protection by the lock icon - if it is locked, the instance is protected. You can also point the icon to see the protection status.

To protect the instance, click the lock icon. In the dialog window, confirm the operation.

To unlock the instance, click the lock icon again.

Start Instance On Boot

The button with the sun (moon) icon allows you to select whether to automatically start your instance (server) on system reboot.

The sun icon means that the instance will start automatically on boot.

To change it, click on the button with the icon.

The moon icon means that this instance will not start automatically on boot.

You can still start it manually.

Remove Instance

You can remove your Odoo instance (server). To remove the instance, you must stop it and disable the protection.

Click Stop Instance to stop the server. In the dialog window, confirm the operation.

Click the button with the lock icon to disable server protection.

When the instance is unprotected, you can see the Remove button. Click it to remove the instance.

Click Remove Odoo Server to delete the instance.
